Two Week Update

Two weeks have passed since Christmas eve. If u read our last blogposts you know we got a lot of presents that contained makeup. Not every brand is as perfect as the other. If you know something is drugstore price or more high end, you will know what the quality of the product is. And because these were presents and we didn’t know what the prices was of some products we thought to try these products out for two weeks, than see what we think about it and then look up the price to compare. Sounds fun right? Let’s go!
P.S. In this article you mostly see the packaging of the products and not the eyeshadows itself. In our latest blogpost containing these makeup products you can see the eyeshadow!

NO. 1other-stories-orig_orig
Eyeshadow palette from & Other Stories. First of all, these colours are all shimmery. For someone who doesn’t want to bring a lot of makeup while travelling as an example this could me ideal. Four different colours is perfect to mix up your look every night. One thing we think is that it would have been better if these colours were two shimmers and two mattes. Because then you could do a smokey eye and with only four shimmers is it a bit difficult. Still the pigmentation is very nice!
Now most importantly the price … €19! & Other Stories isn’t a very cheap store and because of this product and the packaging we think this is a very good price. It isn’t cheap but for this shop it is pretty decent!

NO. 2
The next one is our ZOEVA palette. This contains a highlighter, contour colour and blush. We are very happy about this palette because the pigmentation is awesome! Certainly the highlighter is amazing. Just one swipe with a brush on the product and then on the face which gives such a nice glowy finish. The contour is also very pigmented! With one swipe you can go a long way!
We already knew that ZOEVA isn’t very cheap but also not to expensive. So we thought we would take a look on the website and saw that this was €15 which is a very very good price we think! For a highlighter, contour and blush in such a nice package! This is incredible!

NO. 3
Because reviewing all of our presents from two weeks ago is A LOT we thought to take

bobbi-brown-1-orig_orig

our last eyeshadow which is from Bobbi Brown. We know this brand is pretty high and
so the quality must be good. This is one eyeshadow in this perfect gold packaging. When we got this present, this was the eyecatcher. Not the colour but the packaging! No no, ofcourse the most important part of this product is the eyeshadow itself so after two weeks we tried it and we think this is amazing. Not everyone likes this metallic look but we do. We mostly go with nude colours but with this one we place it on the eyelid just to give the nude shades some more colour. Bobbi Brown isn’t cheap so we were very curious about the price. This product was €32 and we think this is a bit much… Of course a big part of the price is for the brand but still if u see at the other palettes you see that for less money you can get more…

5 Outfits for the Festive Season

Look One – A Little Black Dress

A little black dress. A timeless piece. And when it comes to Christmas it is the perfect outfit.
We love black dresses from Ted Baker. They are so easy to wear because of their perfect length and have beautiful gemstones which give the dresses the perfect amount of glamour. We styled them with some earrings with gemstones to match the dresses. For shoes we are wearing black heels. To bring in some colour, we topped the outfit of with this blue velvet purse.
The dresses from & Other Stories are also perfect for the festive season. This velvet wrap dress is perfect to wear at a party because it gives you so much warmth and it looks very cute with pointy heels. These ones from New Look work perfect with the dress because of the gold detail. The little gold details on the dress match with the shoes and give the dress something extra. For accessories, we kept it simple and wore some gold hoops that we got at a Winter fair.
We may have a few too many of them but can you really have too much little black dresses?

Look Two – Lady in Red

This second look is bold and perfect for standing out in a big crowd. Even if you combine it with a sophisticated blouse it works perfectly for a dinner party. Plus red gives you that extra bit of confidence and it is the colour for the next two seasons. We went for this red dress from &Other Stories. We combined it with a blouse is from Review. To finish the outfit we added some black heels and gold or silver jewelry will work either way.

Look Three – Lady in Red II

Our third look is a twist on the Lady in Red. We love wearing pants and dressing them up for a night out. These pants are a little more casual but with the wright heel it makes for an edgy look. We combined the black pants with a black shirt with some sparkle at the top to make it more festive. Because it is the festive season we are wearing a red blazer.

Look Four – Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits are a perfect clothing item for that one night you go out with your friends and don’t want to be overdressed. We took two different jumpsuits, both from Ted Baker, who are perfect for any occasion. The first jumpsuit is in deep purple with some jewels on the top of the neckline. The perfect statement piece on this outfit. The other jumpsuit which is also from Ted Baker is more floral. The bottom is in navy blue and the top is white with rose flowers. With these two looks you don’t have to get a statement necklace or earring because both already have 1 big piece where the attention is brought to.

Look Five – Dancing All Night

Our last look is a dress in black with blue tones and a dancing women on the front which gives this look some movement. The shoulders are padded to give it some volume and they have these beautiful blue jewels sawed on them to give this look some more elegance. Because of the dark colours with the blue tones it would be a perfect look to celebrate that special occasion in the wintertime.

Festive Make-Up Look

The Christmas season is the perfect time to go outside and join your family and friends for some quality time. But of course the one question is which make-up you are going to wear. If you are like me, then you have to go to your make-up desk to see through all your palettes and find that one you like. Is it going to be shimmery or matt? It’s one heck of a mystery. Well, don’t be afraid, I’m here to help! You need some advice on which eyeshadow colour or which highlight is the best? Just read this blogpost and well go through this step by step!

What do we need?
The important base for a good make-up look is a foundation. Mine is the Luminous Smooth foundation from Maybelline in shade 120. I have been using this one for a couple of years now and it’s perfect for me. It is specially made for those who have normal to dry skin like me! I like this foundation because it gives a flawless finish and is easy to blend. I only put 1 drop of the product on my hand and spread it on my whole face. Then I blend it out with my brush from BE Creative Make Up.
For the following step you are going to need a concealer.
My concealer is also from Maybelline and from the same collection as my foundation. It’s one shade lighter because then you get a highlight-effect to cover the dark circles underneath your eyes. My technique is a triangle of concealer on my under-eyes and then blend it out with a beauty blender.
For setting all of this we will be using a loose powder. You can pick any kind of powder but I use the one from BE Creative Make Up. With a fluffy brush I spread the loose powder all over my face.
For our eyeshadows we need 3 types of colours. My darkest shade is “Whiskey” from the Naked Smokey Eyeshadow palette. My middle shade is “Firecracker” from the Tartelette palette in bloom. And last is my shimmery shade “Funny girl” which is also from my Tartelette palette in bloom.
First I take my darkest shade and blend it in my crease with a blending brush. Then I take my middle shade to blend the dark shade together with a bit of shimmer in the crease. At last for the eyes, I use my shimmery shade to put it on the eyelid to give my eyes that “wow“-effect.

Next are our eyebrows. Mine are already very dark so I don’t always use a brow pencil but of course for a festive make-up look or another special occasion I will use this. My brow product is the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium brown. I like this because it has 2 important parts in 1 pencil. On the one side you have a spooliebrush to brush your eyebrows and on the other side you have the pencil to colour them. So first I brush my eyebrows and then fill them in with the pencil. Then I blend these again with the spoolie so we don’t see any harsh lines.

To contour and highlight our face, I use my ultime favourite palette from NYX. This one is very handy because it has 2 contour shades, 2 highlighters and 9 eyeshadow colours. I always bring this palette with me when I am going on a trip and can’t bring a ton of make-up. For this post I will be using the lightest shade for the contour and the gold shade for highlighting.
Now for the last part and for me the most important part, mascara. I think this makes your look perfect and who wants to go out with lashes you can’t even see? The one I use is Better than Sex from Too Faced. I bought this mascara when I was in France and because we can’t buy this brand in Belgium I immediately bought this and never ever have I regret this product! It makes your lashes so black and voluminous, it’s perfect. I take my eyelash-curler to curl them and then I do one coat of mascara, let it dry and then do another coat.

So this is the final make-up look! It isn’t very dramatic but with the shimmery eyeshadow colour and the gold highlight it looks very festive. If you like this, than be sure to like the post and go follow us on Instagram and Twitter so you know when there is a new post. I would love to know what some products are that you use for a festive look.

Easter Cupcakes

You will need

Cupcake Ingredients

  • I used 250 g of cupcake mix from AVEVE.
  • 2 eggs
  • 30 ml water
  • 100 g butter

Icing Ingredients

  • 250 g butter
  • 375 g icing sugar

Let’s do this

Step 1
Let’s start by preheating the oven to 150°C and line one cupcake pan with cupcake cases. I used ones with easter eggs and bunnies on them because I think they scream easter. The cases are from Dille & Kamille. They have an amazing baking section. Beat the butter until it is nice and smooth. Add the eggs, flour and water and mix for about 4 minutes. Add the mixture to the cases. I use table spoon to scoop the mixture into the cases and get an even amount in each. Pop them into the preheated over for 10 minutes. After that heat the oven to 180°C and put them into the oven for another 10-15 minutes. Leave them on a rack to cool.
Step 2
To make the buttercream icing you will need some sort of electrical mixer because doing this by hand takes a lot of time and isn’t really an option. Beat the butter for about 5 minutes. You will see that the butter will lose a lot of it’s color. Add the sifted icing sugar a little bit at a time until everything is mixed. When the buttercream is fluffy and think you can add some flavor like a few drops of vanilla extract.
Step 3
When the cupcakes are cool you can ice the cakes. I used a piping bag and a round nozzle, but you can use any kind. I think a star shaped nozzle will look nice too. I then topped the cupcakes of with some colored chocolate eggs.

As you can see this is an super easy recipe, but they taste amazing and look super cute! We hope that you like them as much as we do!

An Apple A Day

I have been wanting to make an apple cake for the longest time, but could never find a recipe I liked. I knew I wanted a fluffy and light base with little pieces of apple inside and on top. So what I did was I took a simple vanilla cake and just changed it up a bit. It came out looking amazing and tasting so good!
You will need…
Ingredients:
200g butter
200g granulated suger
200g self-rising flour
1 bag of vanilla sugar (10g)
4 eggs
a pinch of salt
3 apples
acs-0007_orig.jpg
Preheat the oven to 175°C. In a large bowl add the butter (soft), granulated sugar and vanilla sugar and mix until a smooth batter is formed. This takes around 10mins (5mins when using a mixer).
Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Add the yolk to the sugar-butter batter and beat together util mixed well. Add the sifted flour and the salt and mix again util all the ingredients are mixed well. Whisk egg whites util it has formed stiff peaks. Fold the egg whites mixture into paste. Using a ladle, spoon the mixture into a cake tin.
acs-0012_orig.jpg
Peel the apples and remove the cores. Cut the apple in small cubes. Lay the cubes on top of the batter and push them a bit into the batter. Bake the cake for 15 mins. Lower the temperature to 160°C and bake another 35-40 mins. Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool.
You can eat the apple cake on its own, but with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream you can make an ideal dessert. The hot slice of apple cake mixed with the cold ice-cream makes for a perfect combination!
Enjoy!Love,
